Wilke Hired as Sun Conference Commissioner

LAKELAND, Fla. (July 16, 2018) — The Sun Conference Council of Presidents chair, Dr. Al Panu, has announced the hiring of Dustin Wilke as the conference's fifth commissioner.

Wilke has spent the past eight years working at the NAIA national office. For the past three years, he has served as the Associate Director of Championships at the NAIA, serving as chief staff liaison to the NAIA Athletic Directors' Association.  He was the NAIA representative on the recent task force that studied alignment of NAIA basketball.

"I have been deeply impressed with Dustin's depth of knowledge about factors that make for success at the highest level in college athletics," said Panu. "He is well prepared to build on the success of his predecessor, and to move The Sun Conference to the status of a premier conference within the NAIA."

Prior to working in the championships office, Wilke was the NAIA's manager of Eligibility Services for four years, helping develop the new NAIA Eligibility Center and determining eligibility for over 25,000 new student athletes annually.

"It is a tremendous honor to be chosen as the next Commissioner of The Sun Conference," said Wilke. "The conference has firmly established a standard of commitment to excellence in competition, in the classroom, and in the community."

Additionally, Wilke has served as Manager of Championship Sports, managing annual budgets in multiple sports, and working with coaches and administrators in the postseason selection and bracketing process.

Wilke received his Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, with a major in Athletic Administration from Nebraska Wesleyan in 2006, and a Master's in Athletic Administration from the University of Kansas in 2009.

"I look forward to furthering the mission of the conference, and (my wife) Jodie and I are thrilled to be a part of The Sun family," said Wilke.
