Friday, November 6th 2009. Denver, CO- The JWU North Miami and Denver men's basketball teams met on the court for the second straight year. The two schools battled last season in Florida with Denver winning 65-63. This time around the Floridians were pounced upon by JWU Denver in a 75-59 loss in the schools first trip to the cool Rocky Mountain air.
The Florida Cats started slow and never recovered. Denver jumped out to a 9-0 lead with three 3-pointers to start the game. Florida cut the deficit to 21-14 but again gave up a big run to end the first half. They went in down 42-23 at the break
JWU Florida went on a mini run to cut the lead to 53-39 early in the second half but couldn't sustain any offensive or defensive momentum. Sr. David Tucker (Miami, FL) greatly contributed to the Wildcat fight finishing with 13pts and and a game high 13 rebounds. Sr. Antonio Burgos (New York, NY) led in scoring with 15pts.
The Cats continue their back to back Colorado games, Saturday Nov, 7th 2009, in an exhibition game against The Colorado School of Mines. Barry University will host JWU Wednesday, November 11th in Miami Shores, FL at 7pm.
