Wildcats hit school record 16 three's in W
What did the Wildcats eat before the game? That was the question asked by many after the JWU Wildcats hit a school record 16 three pointers in a 98-60 road victory vs Clearwater College.
Well, they did join a group JWU Alums, staff members, parents and friends for a pre-game meal so that may have gotten the Cats ready for a great night of defensive pressure, unselfish passing and hot shooting. The Cats had 5 players in double figures led by Sr Carlos Montilla (Cocoa,FL) and Jr Eric Dounn (Cooper City, FL) with 19 and 17 points respectively.
The Cats jumped out to an early lead and slowly built the lead to a 49-27 lead at the half. Montilla had 17pts at the break. Clearwater cut the deficit to 53-38 however the Cats answered back with a barrage of threes and layups to run away with the victory.
"Clearwater is going to be a solid team. We just shot the ball really well tonight. I really like this group of guys. They work hard and play with a great spirit. We're still a bit young so we need to improve in many areas but this is a solid start. said Coach David Graham
So. Craig Wong chipped in with 15pts, 7 rebounds and 4 assists on the night. Montilla hauled in a team high 10 rebounds.
JWU heads back on the road next Thursday at Florida College. Tip time is 7pm.
