Hot-Shooting AMU defeat Wildcats, 82-64

JWU could not rally back from a hot-shooting first half by the visiting Gyrenes of Ave Maria as they fell 82-64 in a Sun Conference tilt.

Trailing 49-27 at the half, the Wildcats battled back in the second half to cut the Gyrene lead to 65-55 with just under ten minutes remaining however the Cats could not capitalize on the stops they got defensively as they missed a few layups around the rim as well as some good looks from downtown.

"We came out a little flat and Ave Maria was on fire from behind the arc.   They built a 20 point lead that we couldn't battle back from.   We showed some guts to cut the lead to ten points but we couldnt get over the hump to put a little pressure on them down the stretch.   We just needed a few more shots and layups to go down for us to gain some momentum" said Coach David Graham.

Sr. Ricardo Suarez led the way with 20 points and 16 rebounds.   Jr. Gino Fils Aime chipped in with 12 points.
