#3 Warner tops JWU, 82-76

The JWU Wildcats could not hold onto a late lead as they fell to #3 Warner University, 82-76 at the Wildcat Center.

JWU led 38-37 at the half behind the shooting of Jr Gino Fils-Aime and So Nick Preradovic.   JWU increased the lead to 66-58 with 9:04 remaining.   The Wildcat Center then had a power failure that caused a 30min delay.   As play resumed, JWU and Warner traded baskets until Jr. Jonathan Lafontant made an old-fashion three point play to put the Cats ahead 72-61.   That is when JWU went ice cold offensively and Warner heated up to take control of the game on their way to victroy.

"Tough loss today.   We had too many missed assignments on each end today and in the end the #3 team in the country made us pay.   We went cold and lost our offensive flow at the wrong time.  The delay seemed to sap us of some energy but no exuses.   Both teams had the same delay.   We need to regroup and prepare for a strong St. Thomas team on Homecoming,   All remaining conference games are playoff level" said Coach David Graham.

JWU was led by Fils Aime with 20 points.  Preradovic chipped in with 17 points while Sr Ricardo Suarez and Lafontant had 14 and 10 points apiece.   Suarez had 6 assists to lead the Wildcats.

JWU hosts cross-town rival St. Thomas on Sat. February 4 at 4pm.
