Brandon Notches Third Double-Double of the Season in 67-65 Loss to Edward Waters

NORTH MIAMI, Fla. (Nov. 24, 2017) – Sophomore Isa Brandon recorded his third double-double of the season in a 67-65 loss for Johnson & Wales (1-6) to Edward Waters (3-5) on Friday afternoon.

Brandon scored a career-high 18 points on 8-of-14 shooting while registering 10 rebounds versus the Tigers. Nick Preradovic also scored in double-figures, posting 11 points on 4-of-11 shooting from the floor, including three treys. Gino Fils-Aime led the Wildcats with six assists, while Antonio Ruby tallied a career-best five blocks against EWC.

JWU led by as many as 18 points but Edward Waters battled back to tie the game at 65-65 with five seconds left in the second half. With JWU leading 65-64, Edward Waters' Omar Banga converted on three free-throw attempts, tying game the at 65 and ultimately giving the Tigers their first lead, 66-65, since the 15:123 mark of the first half (10-9).  JWU had one last attempt to win the game but a missed shot by Fils-Aime and a made free throw by EWC's Rassad Morgan with 0.7 seconds left on the clock handed the Wildcats their sixth loss of the season.

For the game, JWU shot 44.1 percent from the floor (26-of-59) and was 8-of-22 (36.4 percent) from beyond the arc. Edward Waters finished the day, shooting 43.1 percent from the floor (25-of-58) and 50.0 percent from 3-point range (9-of-18). Neither team held the edge in rebounding, 34-34, as JWU held a slight advantage in second-chance points, 17-16.

The Wildcats will return to Sun Conference action, hosting Southeastern on Thursday, Nov. 30. Tipoff is scheduled for 8:00 p.m. ET.
