Men’s Basketball Picks Up Win at Ave Maria, 65-51

AVE MARIA, Fla. (Dec. 2, 2017) – The Johnson & Wales men's basketball team (2-7, 2-2 TSC) snapped a three-game losing skid, defeating the Ave Maria Gyrenes (1-8, 0-4 TSC), 65-51, in Sun Conference action on Saturday afternoon.

Nick Preradovic, who posted a game-high 21 points on 8-of-14 shooting from the floor and 4-of-7 from 3-point range, led the Wildcats. Preradovic also grabbed seven rebounds and collected three steals. Isa Brandon registered his fifth double-double of the season with 10 points and 10 rebounds. Gino Fils-Aime rounded out the double-digit scorers, recording 11 points and registered six rebounds.

JWU finished the day shooting 43.1 percent from the floor (25-of-58) and 42.9 percent from beyond the arc (9-of-21). The Wildcat defense, which held Ave Maria to just 13 points in the second half, forced 18 Gyrene turnovers resulting in 14 Wildcat points.

The Wildcats will next host the Florida Memorial Lions on Thursday. Dec. 7. Tipoff is set for 7:30 p.m. ET
