THOMASVILLE, Ga. (Jan. 18, 2018) – A career-high 34 points by Isa Brandon guided the Johnson & Wales men's basketball team (5-15, 3-7 TSC) to a 74-68 win over Thomas University (9-9, 4-6 TSC) on Thursday evening.
Brandon registered his 11th double-double of the season, scoring a career-high 34 points on 10-of-15 shooting from the floor and 9-of-10 from the free-throw line while collecting a team-high 10 rebounds. Brandon also tallied a career-high-tying six blocks. Joining Brandon in double-digit scoring was Nick Preradovic, who scored 13 points on 3-of-9 shooting from the floor and 4-of-8 shooting from the charity stripe. Gino Fils-Aime notched a team-best five assists to go along with seven points.
JWU trailed by seven with 8:30 left in the game but out-scored the Night Hawks 25-12 for the remainder of the contest to take the six-point road-conference win. The victory snapped a three-game losing skid for the Wildcats.
JWU shot 42.0 percent from the floor (21-of-50) and drained 14-of-29 from 3-point range (48.3 percent). Thomas finished the game with a 37.5 percent shooting percentage (25-of-64) and was cold from downtown making just 2-of-18 attempts (11.1 percent). Both teams were 18-of-24 from the free-throw line (75.0 percent).
The Wildcats will travel to Brunswick, Georgia, to take on the Coastal Georgia Mariners on Saturday, Jan. 20. Tipoff is set for 4:00 p.m.
