JWU Wins Champions of Character Awards

Coach James Palmer accepted the Team Champions of Character Award from the NAIA for the entire Men's Golf Team for their commitment to giving back to the community.

"It was an honor to accept the award for the team. I am very proud of the team to display the strong values that the NAIA stands for. I want our team to continue their successes building more opportunities giving the 'gift of golf' to others." Coach Palmer stated.

Sr. Nathan Leonhardt (Canada)was also awarded the Individual Champions of Character award. Leonhardt was among 34 other Champions of Character recipients from the teams that are represented at the NAIA National Championship.  He was qouated in the nomination, “Good character is more to be praised than outstanding talent. Character is not given to us, we have to build it piece by piece by our thoughts, choices, courage and determination. My team has had a combination of outstanding talent and character this year. This has developed into great friendships and respect for one another."

Nathan Leonhardt, Chris Hawley, Joonas Hinkkannen, Greg Belsito, and Jordan Meltzer will be competing starting tomorrow (May 18) for the 2009-10 NAIA National Championship in Silvis, IL at the TPC Deere Run golf course.
