Led by Salo, Men's Golf finishes 3rd in Primm
Primm, NV -- The Primm Battle began on Monday under ideal scoring conditions and a gorgeous day at Primm Valley Golf Club.
Host to the top teams in the NAIA, the Desert course was attacked by the Wildcats in the first round as they fired a team total of 7-under par 281. Colin Brennan and Damon Salo led the team with rounds of 69 and into a tie for first after the morning round.
Though their momentum was slowed after an afternoon score of 289, the Wildcats would enter the final round at 6-under par and within three strokes of leader, Masters College.
A new day brought new conditions as the course played slightly longer and more difficult amidst gusting winds.
Damon Salo continued his stellar play opening with four straight birdies enroute to a final round 69 and a fifth place individual finish. For Salo, it is his third straight top-10 performance for the Wildcats.
Brandon Meltzer followed Salo with a late charge and a closing 70 to finish 9th at 1-under par. Colin Brennan posted rounds of 69-70-77 while Josh Briere carded 72-72-74.
JWU's tournament total of 4-under par 860 would secure their third place finish behind host Grandview and CSU-San Marcos.
Men's Golf will return to conference play next weekend at the Bash at the Beach, hosted by Embry-Riddle University.
