No. 8 Wildcats Place Fourth at Roadrunner Classic

ROCKY FACE, Ga. (April 10, 2018) – The No. 8-ranked Johnson & Wales men's golf team placed fourth in this year's Roadrunner Classic held at the Farm Golf Club (The Farm – par 72, 7010 yards).

The 12-team field featured 11 teams ranked in the latest NAIA Top25 Coaches' Poll, including No. 1 Oklahoma City, No. 3 Dalton State, No. 4 Coastal Georgia, No. 5 USCB, No. 6 Keiser, No. 7 Wayland Baptist, No. 8 Johnson & Wales, No. 13 Rocky Mountain College, No. 14 Southeastern, No. 15 Point University, and No. 18 Thomas University.

The Wildcats finished the 54-hole event, shooting a 36-over (288-299-313, 900). JWU ended the tournament six strokes back from third-place Oklahoma City and was four strokes better than fifth-place USCB. Host institution Dalton State claimed the top spot of the tournament with a nine-over (285-282-306, 873) followed by Keiser with a 26-over (311-273-306, 890) and Oklahoma City with a 30-over (300-289-305, 894).

Cody Booska led the Wildcats with a one-over (71-74-72, 217) to place tied for fourth. The fourth-place finish tied Booska's season-best finish of fourth done at the Sand Shark Classic (March 5-6). Both Jake Bauer (73-74-81, 228) and Jens Bendiksen (73-75-80, 228) placed tied for 17th, shooting a 12-over. Alex Rainville, the reigning Sun Conference Men's Golfer of the Week, posted a 13-over (71-78-80, 229) to tie for 21st. Gustav Tegal shot a 25-over (80-76-85, 241) to finish tied for 48th.

This week's outing marked the 13th time this season that JWU has finished a tournament sixth place or better and the ninth time the Wildcats finished in the top five.

JWU will now turn its attention to the 2018 Sun Conference Championships April 22-24. The three-round event will take place at the Plantation Preserve Golf Course and will crown the TSC Champion and award an automatic berth to the NAIA National Tournament.
