@JWUMGolfNM Places Tied for Second at The Doc Glimmer

FARMINGDALE, N.Y. (Sept. 9, 2018)
– The Johnson & Wales men's golf team opened up the 2018-19 season with a Top-5 finish, placing tied for second with a 4-over (272-292-290, 844) at The Doc Glimmer in Farmingdale, New York, this past weekend.

The 14-team tournament, hosted by St. John's University, was played at Bethpage State Park's Red Course (par 70, 7,092 yards). In an all NCAA Division I field, the Wildcats finished the three-round event three strokes back for Rhode Island (281-279-281, 841) which claimed this year's Doc Glimmer crown.

JWU was led by junior Tim Bender, who shot a 2-under (66-73-69, 208) to finish tied for fifth on the individual leaderboard. His opening-round score of 66 was tied with medalist James Nicholas' (Yale) final round score for the low round of the tournament. Junior Gustav Tegel finished seventh with a 1-under 209 (69-70-70) followed by senior Cody Booska, who finished the weekend even-par (67-73-70, 210). Junior Matt Maloney (70-76-73, 219) placed tied for 41st and junior Baylee Wise (75-81-71, 227) finished tied for 69th to round out the Wildcat's scorecard.

JWU will head to Palm Beach Gardens to take part in the 2018 Keiser Kup at PGA National (Palmer Course) beginning next Sunday. The tournament will run through Tuesday, September 18.
