Wildcats Rally for 3-2 Road Win at Faulkner

) – Trailing 2-0 late in the second half, the Johnson & Wales men's soccer team (2-2-0) rattled off three goals in the final 30 minutes to down Faulkner (2-3-0), 3-2, on Friday evening in Montgomery, Alabama.

Senior Valentin Salinas scored the eventual game-winning goal with a strike in the 89th minute to give JWU its first lead of the contest. The native of Buenos Aires, Argentina, notched his third goal of the season, lobbing a header over goalkeeper Caio Calado. The shot was set up by a pass from sophomore Pablo Azzaro, who was credited with his third assist of the season.

The Wildcats got on the board in the 60th minute on a converted penalty kick attempt by freshman Fernando Arzeno. The goal was the first of Arzeno's JWU career and cut the Eagle lead to 2-1.

Sophomore Bevan Baker registered his first collegiate goal, scoring the equalizer in the 81st minute. The product of Miramar, Florida, collected a rebound off a shot by freshman Nicolas Gomez to beat Calado. Gomez was credited with his second assist of the year on the score.

The win snapped a two-game losing skid for the Wildcats and gave JWU is first road win of the season.

Neither team held an advantage in total shots as both sides notched 15 shots apiece in the contest with the Eagles holding a slight edge in shots on goal (8-7).

Freshman Jhon Perez (1-0-0) picked up his first collegiate victory, registering six saves in the contest.

The Wildcats will take on Dalton State to close out the Faulkner Invitational on Saturday, September 8. Game time is set for noon ET.
