LAKELAND, Fla. (Sept. 29, 2018)
– The Johnson & Wales men's soccer team (6-3-0, 3-1-0 TSC) suffered its first conference loss of the season, falling to the No. 24-ranked Southeastern Fire (8-1-1, 4-0-0 TSC), 4-1, on Saturday night from the SEU Soccer Complex.

The Wildcats fell into an early hole, following an eighth-minute penalty kick goal for the Fire. SEU added two more goals in the first half to take a 3-0 lead into halftime. The Fire added their fourth goal of the night 16 seconds into the second half to extend the lead.

JWU turned up the offensive pressure, outshooting SEU 12-6 in the final 45. Freshman Fernando Arzeno netted his fifth goal of the season with a strike in the 88th minute. The native of Buenos Aires, Argentina, drilled a direct freekick over the wall and to the right of SEU goalkeeper David Hubbard to cut the Fire lead, 4-1. However, that was as close as the Wildcats got, falling to the Fire and suffer the team's first defeat in Sun Conference play this season.

For the match, JWU held a 15-13 edge in total shots while the Fire recorded a 6-4 advantage in shots on goal.

The Wildcats return home to host the Florida Memorial Lions on Wednesday, October 3. Game time is set for 12:00 p.m.
