Thomas Scores Three Second-Half Goals to Hand Men’s Soccer a 3-1 Loss on Saturday

THOMASVILLE, Ga. (Oct. 20, 2018)
– The Johnson & Wales (Fla.) men's soccer team (7-5-0, 4-3-0 TSC) fell to the Thomas Night Hawks (6-4-2, 5-1-1 TSC), 3-1, on Saturday afternoon from the TU Soccer Complex.

JWU jumped out to a 1-0 lead but could not overcome three second-half goals to suffer the team's second-straight Sun Conference loss.

Senior Patricio Rolon got the Wildcats on the board in the 19th minute with his sixth goal of the season. Rolon's goal increased the midfielder's season point total to 17 (6g, 5a), tying teammate Valentin Salinas.

The Wildcats entered halftime with a one-goal lead, despite being outshot 5-2 in the first 45 minutes.

The Night Hawks opened things up in the second half, tying the game in the 48th minute with a goal by Salvador Marin. Marin then netted his second goal of the day in the 56th minute to give TU a 2-1 edge. Thomas added an insurance goal in the 78th minute to hand JWU the 3-1 loss.

The Night Hawks held 12-7 edge in total shots while the Wildcats produced seven corner kicks to just three for TU.

JWU will return home to host St. Thomas on Wednesday, October 24. Game time is set for 12:00 p.m.
