LAKE WALES, Fla. (Oct. 27, 2018)
– Freshman Fernando Arzeno recorded his first collegiate hat trick to guide the Johnson & Wales (Fla.) men's soccer team (8-6-0, 5-4-0 TSC) to a 3-1 win at Warner (11-4-1, 5-3-1 TSC) on Saturday evening.

The Wildcat, which already clinched a spot in this year's Sun Conference Men's Soccer Championships prior to the start of the match, used three second-half goals by its first-year striker to end the 2018 regular season on a high note.

The Royals took a first-half lead with a goal in the 31st minute by Juan Gazzotti. The unassisted goal gave Warner a 1-0 lead heading into halftime despite the Wildcats producing five shots on goal to just two for the Royals in the first 45 minutes of action.

JWU got on the board in the 52nd minute when Arzeno converted his fifth penalty-kick attempt of the season. His five PK goals in 2018 are a single-season school record.

With the match tied 1-1, Arzeno gave the Wildcats a 2-1 lead in the 82nd minute with his second goal of the contest. The goal was set up by senior Valentin Salinas, who registered his sixth assist of the season on the score.

Six minutes later, Arzeno completed the hat trick with an insurance goal in the 88th minute. The score was the 10th of the season for the native of Buenos Aires, Argentina – the most goals by a Wildcat since the 2013 season. Senior Patricio Rolon earned his sixth assist of the season on the score.

The win capped off a 2018 regular season which saw JWU win eight games and score 37 goals – both numbers were the most by a Wildcat squad since the 2013 campaign.

JWU finished the contest, outshooting WU, 20-7, including 12-3 on net. The Wildcats held a 6-2 edge in corner kicks.

JWU will now turn its attention to the upcoming TSC Men's Soccer Championships. The Wildcats will enter the post-season tournament as the No. 6 seed and is expected to play at St. Thomas (the No. 3 seed) on Saturday, November 3.
