JWU’s Mays Scores Season-High 22 in Loss to Thomas

NORTH MIAMI, Fla. (Nov. 18, 2017) – Junior Bevin Mays poured in a game- and season-high 22 points in an 83-64 loss for Johnson & Wales (3-4, 0-2 TSC) to Thomas University (2-1, 1-1 TSC) on Saturday afternoon.

The native of Bradenton, Florida, shot 6-of-15 from the floor and converted 10-of-11 from the free-throw line. Mays also collected five rebounds and registered two steals. Also scoring in double-figures for the Wildcats were Diamond Williams (16 points) and Tiana Ayulo (13 points). Williams shot 4-of-12 from the floor and was a perfect 7-of-7 from the charity stripe. The product of Ft. Lauderdale, Florida, tallied six rebounds, three assists, and three steals. Ayulo converted 6-of-10 from the floor and grabbed a team-high seven rebounds.

JWU shot just 31.3 percent for the game (20-of-64) compared to the Night Hawks' 56.4 percent (31-of-55) from the field. The Wildcats struggled from downtown, making just two of the team's 22 attempts from beyond the arc. Thomas University outrebounded JWU, 41-35, while the Wildcats scored 27 points off 22 Night Hawk turnovers.

The Wildcats will return to action on Tuesday, Nov. 28, hosting Florida College. Game time is set for 6:00 pm.
