Williams Scores 21 as JWU Defeats Florida College, 74-56

NORTH MIAMI, Fla. (Nov. 28, 2017)Diamond Williams scored a game-high 21 points to lead the Johnson & Wales (4-4) women's basketball team to a 74-56 win over the Florida College Falcons (5-5) on Tuesday evening.

The native of Ft. Lauderdale shot 70.0 percent from the floor (7-of-10), including 2-of-4 from 3-point range (50.0 percent) to lead the Wildcats to their fourth win of the season. Williams also registered a game-high six steal to go along with six rebounds. Bevin Mays also scored in double-figures with 12 points, shooting 5-of-11 from the floor. She also grabbed seven rebounds. JoNae Gonzales poured in 11 points on 4-of-8 shooting, including three treys. The product of Piedmont, California, also dished out a game-high seven assists. Antranae Alvin recorded seven rebounds (tied for the team-high with Mays).

For the game, JWU shot 44.4 percent from the floor (28-of-63) while Florida College converted 38.8 percent (19-of-49) from the field. Both teams shot well from the free-throw line as JWU converted 11-of-15 and the Falcons made 14-of-19 from the charity stripe

The Wildcats trailed for on 24 seconds in the game to snap a four-game losing skid and improve to 2-2 at the Wildcat Center.

JWU will return to Sun Conference action hosting Southeastern on Thursday, Nov. 30. Game time is set for 5:30 p.m. ET.
