Women’s Basketball Suffers 84-74 loss at Ave Maria

AVE MARIA, Fla. (Dec. 2, 2017) – A pair of Wildcats reached the 20-point plateau in an 84-74 loss for Johnson & Wales (4-6, 0-4 TSC) at Ave Maria (10-0, 4-0 TSC) on Saturday.

Tianna Ayulo (25 points) and Bevin Mays (21 points) accounted for 62 percent of JWU's scoring versus the Gyrenes. Ayulo shot 11-of-21 from the floor and was 3-of-4 from 3-point range. The first-year Wildcat also grabbed seven rebounds. Mays shot 6-of-12 from the floor and 8-of-11 from the free-throw line. The 20-point outing was the third of the season form Mays.

The Wildcats 42.9 percent from the floor (27-of-63), including five treys. Ave Maria shot 47.8 percent from the floor (32-of-67) and made nine 3-pointers. The Wildcats forced 12 Ave Maria turnovers resulting in 17 points for JWU. However, never led in the contest and trailed by as many as 18 points in the contest.

JWU will next host the Florida Memorial Lions on Thursday, December 7. Tipoff is set for 6:00 p.m.
