Wildcats Win Third Straight; Top Webber International, 71-64

BABSON Park, Fla. (Jan. 13, 2018) – With three Wildcats scoring in double-figures, the Johnson & Wales women's basketball team (7-11, 3-6 TSC) picked up its third-straight victory with a 71-64 win over Webber International (7-12, 2-7 TSC) on Saturday afternoon.

Led by Diamond Williams' 24 points, JWU held the lead for most of the contest (38:56). The Ft. Lauderdale, Florida, product shot 6-of-12 from the floor and was a perfect 10-of-10 from the free-throw line for her ninth 20-point game of the season. Williams also led the team with 12 rebounds for her second-straight double-double. Joining Williams in double-digit scoring were JoNae Gonzales (12 points) and Tianna Ayulo (11 points). Gonzales registered a team-high six assists to increase her team-leading total to 74 this season. Ayulo grabbed nine rebounds; one shy of recording her seventh double-double of the season.

The Wildcats finished the afternoon shooting 40.7 percent from the floor (22-of-54), draining seven treys. JWU was consistent from the free-throw line, making 20-of-25 attempts (80.0 percent) versus the Warriors. Webber International shot 37.7 percent from the floor (23-of-61) and was just 37.5 percent (3-of-8) from beyond the arc. WIU missed seven free throws, shooting 68.2 percent from the charity stripe. Webber International out-rebounded JWU and held an 11-5 edge in second-chance points.

The Wildcats will next travel to Thomasville, Georgia, to take on the Thomas Night Hawks on Thursday, January 18. Tipoff is scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
