NORTH MIAMI, Fla. (Feb. 15, 2018) – Playing in the final home game of their Wildcat careers, Kiana Desrosiers, Bevin Mays, and Antranae Alvin led the Johnson & Wales women's basketball (11-15, 7-10 TSC) to a 75-54 win over Webber International (9-19, 3-14 TSC) on Saturday evening.
Desrosiers, Mays, and Alvin, who were honored prior to the team's final home game of the season, each had tremendous nights as the Wildcats cruised to the 19-point victory.
Desrosiers, who made her first start of the season, scored a career-high 11 points on 4-of-9 shooting. The native of Vallejo, California, accounted for half of the team's 3-pointers, draining three on the night. Mays posted a game- and season-high 25 points on 9-of-16 shooting from the floor and 5-of-6 shooting from the free-throw line. The outing marked the fifth 20-point outing of the season for the product of Bradenton, Florida. Alvin had a monster night on the glass, grabbing a career-high 17 boards while scoring 12 points for her first double-double of the year. The Miami native also dished out three assists and registered a team-high two blocked shots.
The Wildcats jumped out to an 8-0 lead to start the game and never looked back, holding the lead for over 39 minutes in the game. JWU shot 40.3 percent (29-of-72) from the floor and was 6-of-24 (25.0 percent) from beyond the arc. The Warriors ended the night shooting 24.3 percent (17-of-70) from the floor and was just 3-of-22 (13.6 percent) from downtown. The Wildcats held a 65-42 edge in rebounding, outscoring WIU, 26-16, in second-chance points. The 65 total rebounds were the most recorded by JWU this season.
The Wildcats will close out the regular season with a trip to Lake Wales, Florida, to take on Warner on Saturday, February 17. Tipoff is set for 2:00 p.m.
