Gonzales-Smith Scores Career-High 32 Points in 75-60 Win over Florida National

– Senior JoNae Gonzales-Smith posted a career-high 32 points to lead the Johnson & Wales (Fla.) women's basketball team (2-3) to a 75-60 win over Florida National (5-9) on Tuesday night from Bucky Dent Gym.

Shooting 8-of-16 from the floor, including five 3-pointers and an 11-of-12 performance from the free-throw line, Gonzales-Smith shattered her previous career-high which the native of Richmond, California, set earlier this season (24 versus Florida National – 11/6). She also recorded a career-high 11 rebounds for the second double-double of her Wildcat career. Sophomore Tianna Ayulo notched her fourth double-double of the season, scoring 17 points and grabbing 11 rebounds. The native of Hollywood, Florida, has scored in double-figures in all five games for the Wildcats this season and leads the team in both point and rebounds. The duo of Gonzales-Smith and Ayulo accounted for eight steals versus the Conquistadors on Tuesday. Sophomore Alexis McClain added 13 points, draining four buckets and hitting five free-throw attempts in the game. The Ft. Lauderdale product also tallied eight rebounds and three blocked shots.

The Wildcats finished the night shooting 42.1 percent from the floor (25-of-57) and were 6-of-17 from 3-point range. FNU was 20-of-56 from the floor (35.7 percent) and converted 19.2 percent of its shots from beyond the arc (5-of-26). The Wildcats held a decisive advantage on the glass, outrebounding the Conquistadors, 44-26.

The Wildcats will head to St. Thomas, Virgin Islands, to take on the U.S. Virgin Islands Buccaneers on Thursday, November 22. Game time is scheduled for 10:30 a.m.
