W. Soccer Continues Win Streak As They Defeat Warner University

The Lady Wildcats (4-11-0, TSC 3-7-0) win streak continued on Sunday Oct. 23rd at North Miami Stadium as they played host to conference opponent Warner University (6-7-1, TSC 4-4-1).  The Lady Wildcats have defeated their previous two conference opponents, University of South Carolina-Beaufort (7-0) and Webber International University (3-1).

The game kicked off at 1pm and found the Lady Royals of Warner University fighting for their conference playoff spot, as they currently hold the sixth and final spot into the tournament.  The first half found the Lady Royals playing with the wind and creating good chances.  The Lady Wildcats on the other hand were finding it very difficult to find any rhythm, as the Lady Royals seemed to win ever ball in the air.

Even with the struggles JWU found itself tied at half, 0-0.  Now with the wind at their back, JWU was able to put a bit more pressure on Warner's backline.  The pressure led to JWU being awarded a corner kick twenty minutes into the half.  JWU Forward Olivia Blake (Fr.) lined up the corner.  The service was driven right into the six yard box, with the Warner University goalkeeper playing near post.  The service lofted right over the goalkeeper and found the right side of the net.  The goal was the first for Blake and would end up being the game winner.

"The ladies continue to fight day in and day out, in everything we do," commented Head Coach Eric Dobrzanski.  "I hate to keep saying this, but we have an unbelievable group of players.  They have continued to believe and they are getting rewarded for their work.  Today we just battled every minute and capitalized on our opportunity.  I am so happy for them, and happy for Olivia Blake as she scored her first ever college goal.  I hope we have many more from her in the future.  We are riding a lot of confidence and I hope we can continue this into Senior Day, as we look to honor those three individuals."

The three straight conference wins have launched the Lady Wildcats up to 9th in the conference standings, with potential to move up by seasons end.  JWU will now look to extend the streak, as they will celebrate Senior Day this coming Friday Oct. 28th at 3pm.  The game will be played at Dowdy Field in Hollywood, FL. and will celebrate the careers of three Lady Wildcats (Midfielder Nicole Ewanouski, Midfielder Cassandra Charles and Goalkeeper Elizabeth Haley).  We hope that everyone can join us as we celebrate three great individuals.
