W. Soccer: Barrett, Duffy and Charles Named NAIA Scholar-Athletes
JWU women's soccer is proud to announce that Midfielder Tara Barrett (Jr.), Defender Suzy Duffy (Jr.) and Midfielder Cassandra Charles (Sr.) have all been named 2011 NAIA Scholar-Athletes. The three players were recognized for their continued work in the classroom. The requirements are to have a 3.0 GPA or higher and the student must be a Junior or Senior.
The Sun Conference put 16 players on the list. From Embry Riddle, SCAD, Warner, Webber, Southeastern and JWU. Warner University led the way with six honorees, JWU was second with three.
"It is a great feeling to have three players named NAIA Scholar-Athletes," commented Head Coach Eric Dobrzanski. "Since we have such a young team, it is tremendous to have a majority of our upper classmen recognized. They are setting a great example for our younger players and giving them something to work towards. Academics is a big emphasis for our program. And for those three players and their family it rewards their hard work. It says a lot about someone to stay that consistent as a student-athlete, I am very proud of them."
