P.K. Yonge Senior Sarah Waters Commits to JWU
On Monday, March 26th in Gainesville, Florida P.K Yonge High School Senior Sarah Waters made it official and signed to play college soccer for Johnson & Wales University (Fla.). The signing was held on the campus of P.K. Yonge and was attended by Sarah's family and friends. This season, Waters had nine goals and six assists from her sweeper position as she helped lead P.K. Yonge to its first district title since 2009 and to its second straight regional semifinals appearance.
"We are extremely excited to add a player like Sarah to our program," stated JWU Head Coach Eric Dobrzanski, who is entering his third season in charge of the Wildcat program. Last season the program reached new heights as the team recorded three Sun Conference victories and ended with Coach Dobrzanski being named 2011 Sun Conference Coach of the Year.
Dobrzanski went on to say, "Sarah will be a player we can look to, to make an immediate impact. She is athletic, makes smart runs and is incredibly technical on the ball. She brings that maturity that we need with a young team. Tactically, she is always moving and in good position. We need to continue to bring in players like Sarah if we intend on reaching our goal of competing at the top of the Sun Conference. I would really like to thank Sarah and her family for their work throughout this process, they have been tremendous. We cannot say enough about them and we cannot wait to start preseason in August."
JWU will begin preseason on August 13th and will see their first action against Palm Beach Atlantic University on Monday, August 20th in West Palm Beach for an exhibition match. The regular season will kick off in Clearwater, Fla. as they will take on Clearwater Christian College on Tuesday, August 28th at 4:30pm.
