@JWUWSoccerNM Outlasts Middle Georgia 2-1 to Close Out Road Trip

The Lady Wildcats women's soccer team (2-0) finished out their road trip with a tough 2-1 win over NAIA foe Middle Georgia State University Knights (0-1).  Both Lady Wildcat goals would be scored by Freshman Forward Savannah Jackson.  Jackson's first goal would come in the 22nd minute, with an assist from Sophomore Midfielder Karen Rodriguez.  Jackson would find the back of the net again in the 64th minute to give JWU a 2-0 advantage.  The Knights of MGSU took control of momentum and would score in the 75th minute and continued to press to find the equalizer in the final 15 minutes.

The Knights would get a few quality chances both in the run of play and off set pieces, but the Lady Wildcats would hold on for the 2-1 win.  The win puts the Lady Wildcats at 2-0 overall, as the team won their season opener at Montreat College on Saturday night.

"I am extremely proud of our group, we were resilient all day and stayed focus on what we wanted the result to be," commented Head Coach Eric Dobrzanski.  "It was not the best performance from us, but I give a lot of credit to Coach Gill and his team, they were incredibly tough, I thought this was a fantastic early season game for both teams.  Our players kept believing in each other and found a way to close out the game, very impressive.  Again, just like the other night, I thought we got better, we learned a lot about our team today, our backline stepped up and helped close out this match.  We look forward to another solid matchup this coming Monday."

The Lady Wildcats will now turn their attention to their home opener this coming Monday August 28th against Life University, kickoff is set for 11am.  The game will be played at Miami Shores Village.
