The Lady Wildcats women's soccer team (3-0) remained unbeaten after a 4-1 win over the Running Eagles of Life University (2-2). The Lady Wildcats would find themselves up early, as they took a 2-0 lead within the first 20 minutes of the match, with the first 2 goals coming from Freshman Forward Savannah Jackson. Jackson's first goal of the game would be assisted by Jr. Soleil Duplain, with her second coming from a pass from Jr. Dani Ritter.
In the 30th minute the Running Eagles would pull within one goal, as they found the back of net from a shot from outside the box. JWU would respond six minutes later when Sr. Captain Sydney Smedley found the upper left corner of the goal from a pass from Savannah Jackson. The Lady Wildcats would take a 3-1 lead into the halftime break.
In the second half, the game would go back and forth, with each team exchanging quality chances. The Lady Wildcats would find a 4th goal in the 70th minute when Savannah Jackson took advantage of a misplayed ball from the LU backline. The goal was Jackson's third of the game, for her first collegiate hat trick, Jackson now has 7 goals in 3 games in 2017.
"I thought we had very good moments today, and I thought we had some not so good moments today," commented Head Coach Eric Dobrzanski. "We have to find some consistency with our play and continue to get better. We played well in the second half, and did a better job of challenging first ball and winning the second ball. Overall, I am very pleased with the direction this group is going, they are focused and genuinely look to change their best each day."
The undefeated Lady Wildcats will now have a few days off until they make the short trip to Hialeah, Fla. for their Friday matchup with Florida National University (1-0). Kickoff is set for 4pm at Goodlet Park, FNU is coming off a 3-1 win over Ave Maria University.
