The Lady Wildcats women's soccer team (3-2) dropped a 2-1 decision on Monday night to NCAA DII opponent Nova Southeastern University Sharks (3-0). The Sharks of NSU took a 1-0 lead into the break, and would double their lead in the 63rd minute, with both of NSU's goals came off set pieces. The Lady Wildcats pulled within 1 goal after Sophomore Midfielder Karen Rodriguez blasted a shot into the upper right corner in the 88th minute. The goal was Rodriguez' first of the season, and her first as a Wildcat. Unfortunately, JWU did not have much time left on the clock to find the equalizer and fell 2-1.
The win is NSU's third of the season and helps them stay unbeaten in 2017, as the loss drops the Wildcats to 3-2 overall. "I was pleased with tonight's performance," commented Head Coach Eric Dobrzanski. "I thought we executed the game plan well, and were resilient all night in terms of being able to make seamless adjustments. Unfortunately, two set pieces cost us two goals, NSU is extremely talented and extremely well coached, so we knew we would have to defend very well. I am very happy with how our group bounced back from Friday's loss, we had a lot of energy and passion tonight."
The Lady Wildcats will be back in action on Friday Sept. 8th, as they travel to Temple Terrace, Fla. to take on NAIA opponent Florida College at 6pm.
