Women’s Soccer Falls in Overtime at Thomas University, 2-1

THOMASVILLE Ga. (Oct. 21, 2017) – A goal the Night Hawk's Rebekah Wiltshire in the 96th minute resulted in a 2-1 overtime loss for the Johnson & Wales women's soccer team (7-7, 4-5 TSC) on Saturday afternoon from the TU Soccer Complex.  

After a scoreless first half, Thomas University (6-7-1, 3-5 TSC) took a 1-0 lead following a goal by Whitley Anderson in the 76th minutes. JWU responded with a score four minutes later as Savannah Jackson netted her 16th goal of the season with a chip from 25 yards out in the 80th minute. Haylee Gordon was credited with an assist on the score.

Unable to determine a winner in regulation, the contest headed into overtime. Six minutes into the first overtime period, TU's Wiltshire scored the game-winner on the only shot of the overtime frame.

Goalkeeper Ashley Buchanan finished the afternoon making seven saves. All seven of her saves came during regulation.

For the game, TU held a 32-6 edge in total shots and a 5-4 advantage in corner kicks.

The Lady Wildcats will close out the 2017 regular season with senior day on Saturday, Oct. 28, as JWU hosts the USCB Sand Sharks. Game time is set for 1:30 p.m.
