NORTH MIAMI (Aug. 9, 2018) – The Johnson & Wales women's soccer team was selected sixth in the 2018 Sun Conference Preseason Women's Soccer Coaches' Poll, as announced by the league office on Thursday.

The Wildcats return seven starters from a squad that finished 7-8-0 (4-6-0 TSC) in 2017. Nearly 80 percent of the team's scoring output from a year ago is back in 2018 as well as all four starters on the back line, highlighted by the return of TSC Freshman of the Year Savannah Jackson and Second-Team, All-TSC selection Caterina Yibirin. Last season, Jackson set the school's single-season record for points (35) and goals scored (17).

Voted on by the leagues 11 coaches (coaches were unable to vote for their own program), this year's preseason pool saw Southeastern claim the top spot as the conference favorite this season. The Fire received 97 total points and seven of the eleven first-place votes. The Seahawks garnered the remaining four first-place votes for 92 total points.

Keiser won their third straight regular-season title and its 12 overall last season but Southeastern claimed the programs first tournament championship, knocking off Keiser, 4-2 in the final game.

Southeastern welcomes back Sun Conference Player of the Year and Second Team All-American Uchenna Kanu. The junior was second in the country with 45 goals, ten game-winning goals, 100 total points, 8.24 shots per game, and 4.62 shots on goal per game.

St. Thomas picked up 76 points to come in third, Thomas came in fourth with 67 points, and SCAD was fifth with 65 tallies.

Johnson & Wales (53 points), Warner (46 points), Webber (41 points), USCB (37 points, Ave Maria (16 points), and Florida Memorial (15 points) round out the poll.
