TEMPLE TERRACE, Fla. (Aug. 30, 2018)
– Hitting the road for the first time this season, the Johnson & Wales women's soccer team (2-0-0) used four first-half goals to claim a 4-3 win at Florida College on Thursday night.

In the first meeting since the 2012 season between the two schools, the Wildcats out-shot the Falcons (1-1-0), 14-7, in the first half which led to four scores for JWU. Trailing 2-0 in the first half, the Wildcats got on the board in the 26th minute as a result of junior Danielle Gomez' first goal in a Wildcat uniform. The score was set up by fellow junior Tyler Einsmann, who was credited with the assist – her first of the campaign.

Junior Sawyer Hall produced the equalizer in the 34th minute with the first goal of her JWU career. Sophomore Savannah Jackson provided the assist on Hall's score, marking the Davenport, Florida, product's first helper of the year. Not satisfied with one point in the match, Jackson scored her first goal of the game in the 35th minute for her 20th-career score, giving JWU its first lead of the night, 3-2.

Jackson notched her second goal of the game and eventual game-winner in the 39th minute. The goal was her fourth of the season. Freshman Mariah Zayas tallied her first collegiate assist on the goal.

The Falcons cut into the Wildcat lead, converting a PK attempt early in the second half. However, the JWU defense kept Florida College at bay, resulting in the 4-3 victory.

The win marked the third-straight for the Wildcats over the Falcons as JWU has outscored Florida College 12-3 over the last three meetings.

Freshman Kellie Fitzpatrick earned her second win of the season, playing all 90 minutes in net.

For Jackson, the second-year Wildcat has now produced seven multiple-goal games during her career and has scored the team's game-winning goal eight times.

The Wildcats will remain on the road to take on Eckerd College on Saturday, September 1. Game time is set for 5:00 p.m. from Johnson Field in St. Petersburg, Florida.
