The Wildcat Women's Volleyball team (3-9, 0-3 TSC) lost in straight sets (7-25, 14-25, 18-25) to cross-town rivals St. Thomas (6-8, 4-0 TSC) on Wednesday night.
The first set went heavily in favor of the visiting team. The second and third set brought a fight from JWU as the team looked to bounce back.
With the first set in the hands of St. Thomas, the Wildcats looked to take the second set and bring a fight to this match. Although they would fall short, the third set brought a different JWU side as the Wildcats went face to face with STU, trading points in the set. With the score tied at 10-10, St. Thomas would explode and take control, ultimately winning the set and the match, but the fight was visible from JWU as the final score in set three read 18-25.
Leading the way for the Wildcats was Savannah Swenson with a team-high 10 kills on the night, which matched her dig count at 10. Trailing closely behind her was Sharell Nairn with six kills and seven digs in the match. Anissa Giammona assisted on 19 occasions and dug six times.
Next up for the Wildcats is an away double header against Mid Atlantic Christian and Johnson University on Saturday, October 7 at 5 pm and 7 pm.
