– Sophomore Savannah Swenson entered Saturday's match needing seven kills to reach 500 for her JWU career and ended the afternoon with a team-high nine as the Johnson & Wales volleyball team (8-10, 1-6 TSC) fell to the Coastal Georgia Mariners (11-8, 4-2 TSC), 3-0 (25-17, 25-16, 25-9), on Saturday.

Swenson (502 career kills) also added five assists and five digs in the match. The Clermont, Florida, native joins teammate Sharell Nairn (535 career kills) as the only two players in JWU history to registered 500-or-more kills in a career. Nairn ended the afternoon with six kills and four digs. Freshman Vanessa Orozco tallied a team-high 15 assist while sophomore Bianca Torres led the Wildcats with six digs.

The Wildcats could not overcome a .057 team hitting percentage, falling to the Mariners in straight-sets. CCG finished the contest with a .329 hitting percentage and held a 7-2 advantage in service aces. The Mariners also controlled the action at the net, registering 10.0 total team blocks compared to 3.0 for JWU.

The Wildcats will continue Sun Conference play, hosting the Keiser Seahawks on Tuesday, October 2. Game time is set for 7:00 p.m.
