JWU Volleyball Falls to First-Place Webber International, 3-0

NORTH MIAMI, Fla. (Oct. 5, 2018)
-- The Johnson & Wales volleyball team (8-12, 1-8 TSC) fell to Webber International (15-3, 8-0 TSC), 3-0 (25-15, 25-10, 25-21) in Sun Conference action on Friday evening from the Wildcat Center.

The Wildcats were led by junior Sierra Mooney and sophomore Savannah Swenson, who posted five kills each. Both Mooney and Swenson were active at the net, recording three and two total blocks, respectively. Sophomore Bianca Torres registered a team-high 12 digs followed by freshman Vanessa Orozco, who collected 11. The native of Kissimmee, Florida, notched her eighth double-double of the season recording 16 assists versus the Warriors.

JWU hit .032 for the match to the first-place Warrior's .218. WIU tallied 53 digs; six more than the Wildcats and held a 34-18 edge in assists. JWU notched 6.0 total team blocks, led by Mooney's three (two solo).

The Wildcats return to action on Saturday, hosting Southeastern on Saturday, October 6. First serve is set for 2:00 p.m.
