Wildcats Suffer 3-0 Loss to St. Thomas

NORTH MIAMI, Fla. (Oct. 20, 2018)
– The Johnson & Wales (Fla.) volleyball team (8-17, 1-12 TSC) suffered a 3-0 (25-18, 25-12, 25-17) loss to St. Thomas (9-12, 7-5 TSC) in Sun Conference action on Saturday.

The Wildcats could not overcome 23 hitting errors in the team's eighth-straight loss.

JWU was led offensively by junior Sharell Nairn, who posted a team-high nine kills versus the Bobcats. The product of Miami also tallied 10 digs in the match. Freshman Vanessa Orozco led the Wildcats with 20 assists and three service aces on the afternoon. Sophomore Bianca Torres notched a team-high 16 digs on Saturday to increase her career number to 767 (school-record).

St. Thomas finished the afternoon with a .265 hitting percentage while JWU hit at a clip of .000. The Bobcats held a 56-49 edge in digs and had 5.0 total team blocks to 3.0 for the Wildcats.

JWU will take on Florida National in non-conference action in Hialeah, Florida, on Wednesday, October 24. Game time is set for 7:00 p.m.
