Tim Petersen and Audrey Gant Named JWU Athletics Wildcats of the Week

NORTH MIAMI, Fla. (Oct. 8, 2018) – Men's soccer senior Tim Petersen and women's soccer senior Audrey Gant have been named JWU Athletics Wildcats of the Week for the week ending October 7, the Athletic Department announced on Monday.

The Wildcats of the Week honor is a weekly award given to the top performing student-athlete among the 11 intercollegiate sports sponsored at JWU. Awarded to the top male and female student-athlete each week by the JWU Athletic Department, those named the Wildcat of the Week will become eligible to be named the Sergio's Player of the Month for the corresponding month.

Petersen, a senior forward, scored the game-winning goal in overtime as JWU defeated Florida Memorial, 5-4, on Wednesday, October 3. The win gave the Wildcats their fourth conference victory of the season and kept JWU perfect at home (4-0-0) in 2018. The native of Bariloche, Argentina, came off the bench and took two shots in the contest (both on goal). His second shot of the game came in the 94th minute when the Wildcat striker drilled the golden goal from the right side of the area after collecting a cross by senior Valentin Salinas from the left side of the field. The goal was the second of the season for Petersen and fifth of his JWU career. It marked his first game-winner as Wildcat and capped off the JWU rally. On the year, Petersen has two goals (four points) on seven total shots (five on net).

Gant assisted on the game-winning goal by Sawyer Hall and followed that up with the first goal of her JWU career. She found the back of the net in the 24th minute to extend the Wildcat's lead to 2-0. Gant added her second assist of the week, setting up JWU's third goal at SCAD – a Carissa Sanchez strike in the 44th minute. The score gave the Wildcats a 3-2 lead, heading into halftime.
