JWU Soccer Hosts Big Chef, Little Chef

NORTH MIAMI, Fla. (Feb. 12, 2019) – On Friday, February 8, members of the Johnson & Wales men's and women's soccer teams hosted students from local elementary schools, including W. J. Bryan Elementary School as part of JWU's Big Chef, Little Chef program.

The Big Chef, Little Chef program pairs students from nearby schools with JWU mentors in order to learn about nutrition, food preparation, and etiquette. The other side of eating properly is to also focus on the fitness side, which links athletics.

"Big Chef, Little Chef was a tremendous experience for not only all of the elementary students but, for us as well," women's soccer sophomore Ashlyn Hannus said. "We had a lot of fun playing soccer with the kids. They have a love for the game that brings me back to when I first started playing. The ability to use our roles as JWU student-athletes with an event such as this is a real honor."

As part of JWU's commitment to the NAIA's Champions of Character program, moments such as last Friday's will continue to be a high priority to all members of the Johnson & Wales Athletic Department.
