Savannah Jackson Named Sergio’s Cuban Café & Grill Player of the Month (August)

NORTH MIAMI, Fla. (September 19, 2019) – Women's soccer forward Savannah Jackson has been named the Sergio's Cuban Café & Grill Player of the Month for the month of August, the Johnson & Wales Athletic Department announced on Thursday.

Jackson, a junior from Winter Haven, Florida, finished the month with an astonishing 11 goals in three games played. During the month of August, Jackson was named the Sun Conference Offensive Player of the Week for the week ending August 31 after scoring seven goals in two matches, including a school-record five goals at Life (Ga.) on August 27, breaking the record she set in the first game of the season. During the game versus Life (Ga.), she registered the 50th goal of her career. Jackson began the year with a four-goal performance (a then-school record) versus Florida National (August 20). She ended the month, leading the nation in goals (11), points (22), game-winning goals (3) and game-winning goals-per-match (1.00). Because of her performances during the month, JWU started the season 3-0-0 for only the second time in school history.

Each month during the academic year, a JWU student-athlete will be selected as the Sergio's Cuban Café & Grill Player of the Month based on outstanding athletic accomplishments.
