Savannah Jackson Named Sergio’s Cuban Café & Grill Player of the Month

NORTH MIAMI, Fla. (October 23, 2019) – Women's soccer forward Savannah Jackson has been named the Sergio's Cuban Café & Grill Player of the Month for the month of September, the Johnson & Wales Athletic Department announced on Wednesday.

Jackson, a junior from Winter Haven, Florida, finished the month with 11 goals and one assist for 23 points to lead JWU to a 3-1 mark. The third-year Wildcat was named Sun Conference Offensive Player of the Month, twice, during September (9/16 & 9/23), recording three hat tricks. Jackson notched 25 shots with 18 on goal and tallied two game-winning goals. By the end of September, Jackson amassed 22 goals (No. 1 in the nation) and recorded 44 points (No. 1 in the nation) on 48 total shots (37 shots on goal). Averaging 8.00 shots-per-game (No. 3 in the nation) and 6.17 shots on goal-per-game (No. 1 in the nation), Jackson led the country in total game-winning goals, and was second in the nation in both goals-per-game (3.67) and points-per-game (7.33).

Each month during the academic year, a JWU student-athlete will be selected as the Sergio's Cuban Café & Grill Player of the Month based on outstanding athletic accomplishments.
