Alex Doane and Tianna Ayulo Named JWU Athletics Wildcats of the Week (Week 14)

NORTH MIAMI, Fla. (November 25, 2019) – Men's basketball freshman Alex Doane and women's basketball junior Tianna Ayulo have been named JWU Athletics Wildcats of the Week for the week ending November 24 announced on Monday.

The Wildcats of the Week honor is a weekly award given to the top-performing student-athlete among the 11 intercollegiate sports sponsored at JWU. Awarded to the top male and female student-athlete each week by the JWU Athletic Department, those named the Wildcat of the Week will become eligible to be named the Sergio's Player of the Month for the corresponding month. 

Doane, a freshman guard, scored a career-high 22 points on 8-of-15 shooting versus the Keiser Seahawks on Saturday. The native of Boca Raton, Florida, extended his streak of consecutive games with 10-or-more points to seven with the first 20-point outing of his JWU career. Doane drained 5-of-12 shots from 3-point land and also grabbed four rebounds, dished out a team-high three assists and recorded two steals. The first-year Wildcat leads JWU with 30 made treys, shooting 45.5 percent from downtown (No. 5 in the conference) and is averaging 4.3 3-pointers-per-game (Leads the conference and No. 4 in the nation). On the year, Doane is averaging 15.4 points-per-game (No. 15 in the conference) on 46.9 percent shooting from the floor (No. 11 in the conference).

Ayulo, a junior forward, helped guide JWU to a 75-72 win over conference foe Keiser on Saturday, scoring 21 points as the Wildcats won their fifth-straight to start the season. With the win, JWU is off to its best start in program history. Ayulo shot 7-of-17 from the floor and converted 7-of-11 attempts from the charity stripe to record the 23rd 20-point outing of her career. The native of Hollywood, Florida, also dished out a team-high three assists and led JWU with three steals versus the Seahawks. On the season, Ayulo is averaging 17.8 points-per-game (No. 4 in the conference and No. 26 in the nation). She is also averaging 3.0 assists-per-game (No. 10 in the conference) and 2.8 steals-per-contest (No. 6 in the conference and No. 31 in the nation).
