Kevin Rostamian and Jordan McDuffie Named JWU Athletics Wildcats of the Week (Week 16)

NORTH MIAMI, Fla. (December 9, 2019) – Men's basketball sophomore Kevin Rostamian and women's basketball sophomore Jordan McDuffie have been named JWU Athletics Wildcats of the Week for the week ending December 8 announced on Monday.

The Wildcats of the Week honor is a weekly award given to the top-performing student-athlete among the 11 intercollegiate sports sponsored at JWU. Awarded to the top male and female student-athlete each week by the JWU Athletic Department, those named the Wildcat of the Week will become eligible to be named the Sergio's Player of the Month for the corresponding month. 

Rostamian, a sophomore forward, averaged 8.5 points- and 11.5 rebounds-per-contest this past week as JWU took a pair of Sun Conference foes (Coastal Georgia – 12/5; Thomas – 12/7). The native of Weston, Florida, began the week scoring 15 points and registering 17 rebounds versus the Mariners for his second double-double as a Wildcat. The 15 boards were the most by a Wildcat over the past six seasons. Rostamian also collected three blocked shots on the night. He added six more rebounds on Saturday versus Thomas to increase his team-leading season total to 72 (8.00 rpg – No. 48 in the nation).

McDuffie, a sophomore forward, averaged 18.5 points-per-game and 5.5 rebounds-per-contest this past week to help JWU remain undefeated on the season with wins over Coastal Georgia (78-74) and Thomas (84-72). The 7-0 start for the Wildcats is the best start in JWU program history. The native of White Plains, Maryland, opened the week scoring 15 points on 5-of-15 shooting from the floor and 5-of-11 shooting from the charity stripe while dishing out three assists and record two steals versus the Mariners. The win marked the first in series history for JWU over Coastal Georgia. Two days later, McDuffie scored a career-high 22 points, including 20 of the team's 31 total point in the fourth quarter versus Thomas. McDuffie notched her first 20-point outing of the season, shooting 7-of-11 from the floor and 7-of-8 from the free-throw line. She also dished out a team-high seven assists and had two steals versus TU.
