Jordan McDuffie and Vince Ventulan Named JWU Athletics Wildcats of the Week (Week 21)

NORTH MIAMI, Fla. (January 13, 2020) – Women's basketball sophomore Jordan McDuffie and men's basketball sophomore Vince Ventulan have been named JWU Athletics Wildcats of the Week for the week ending January 12 announced on Monday.

The Wildcats of the Week honor is a weekly award given to the top-performing student-athlete among the 11 intercollegiate sports sponsored at JWU. Awarded to the top male and female student-athlete each week by the JWU Athletic Department, those named the Wildcat of the Week will become eligible to be named the Sergio's Player of the Month for the corresponding month. 

McDuffie, a sophomore forward, averaged 13.5 points-per-game and 4.5 rebounds-per-contest for the Wildcats last week. The native of White Plains, Maryland, shot 42.3 percent from the floor and recorded eight assists and three steals in Sun Conference action. After pointing 13 points versus the No. 2-ranked Southeastern Fire, McDuffie scored 14 points and grabbed seven rebounds as JWU knocked off Ave Maria, 81-77, in overtime. The second-year Wildcat notched six of her 14 points in the overtime frame to lead JWU to its fifth conference win of the season. On the year, McDuffie is averaging 12.4 points-per-game and 3.7 rebounds-per-contest. She is third on the team in assists (31) and is shooting a team-high 49.0 percent from the field.   

Ventulan, a freshman guard, finished the week averaging 10.5 points-per-game with six assists two steals and one blocked shot. The native of Port St. Lucie, Florida, shot a blistering 75.0 percent from the floor in two games last week and was 3-of-4 from the free-throw line. Ventulan opened the week scoring eight points on 4-of-5 shooting versus Southeastern, notching two assists and one block versus the Fire. Two days later, the first-year Wildcat added 13 points on 5-of-7 shooting from the floor and 3-of-4 shooting from the charity stripe at Ave Maria. He dished out four assists and notched two steals versus the Gyrenes. On the year, Ventulan is averaging 6.1 points-per-game on 54.1 percent shooting. He is second on the team in total assists (40) and has blocked eight shots and recorded seven steals.
