Tianna Ayulo Named Sergio’s Cuban Café & Grill Player of the Month

NORTH MIAMI, Fla. (February 28, 2020) – Women's basketball forward Tianna Ayulo has been named the Sergio's Cuban Café & Grill Player of the Month for the month of January, the Johnson & Wales Athletic Department announced on Friday.

Ayulo, a junior from Hollywood, Florida, finished the month of January, averaging 19.0 points-per-game and 7.4rebounds-per-contest to help guide the Wildcats to a 5-2 mark for the month and an overall 15-4 record (the highest winning percentage [.783] and the most wins [15] by a JWU women's basketball team in program history). Ayulo shot 46.1 percent from the field and converted 71.4 percent of her attempts from the free-throw line. She led the team in steals (13), was second on the team in assists (19) and recorded eight blocked shots. During the month, she reached double-figures in scoring five times (in seven games), including a pair of 30-point outings. She notched her three double-doubles during the month, including a 31-points, 11 rebound at St. Thomas on January 18. On the year, the three-time Sun Conference Player of the Week is averaging 17.9 points-per-game (No. 21 in the nation and No. 2 in the conference) and 7.5 rebounds-per-contest.

Each month during the academic year, a JWU student-athlete will be selected as the Sergio's Cuban Café & Grill Player of the Month based on outstanding athletic accomplishments.
