Javon St. Firmin and Tianna Ayulo Named JWU Athletics Wildcats of the Week (Week 28)

NORTH MIAMI, Fla. (March 2, 2020) – Men's track & field freshman Javon St. Firmin and women's basketball junior Tianna Ayulo have been named JWU Athletics Wildcats of the Week for the week ending March 1 announced on Monday.

The Wildcats of the Week honor is a weekly award given to the top-performing student-athlete among the 11 intercollegiate sports sponsored at JWU. Awarded to the top male and female student-athlete each week by the JWU Athletic Department, those named the Wildcat of the Week will become eligible to be named the Sergio's Player of the Month for the corresponding month.

St. Firmin, a freshman sprinter, helped lead JWU to a ninth-place finish in the University of Tampa Track Invitational held at Pepin Stadium this past Friday. The native of Lake Worth, Florida, earned eight points with a fifth place finish in the men's 400m dash. She also registered 14 assists and seven steals in the three tournament games. Her 32-point performance on Saturday propelled the Wildcats the league crown and the program's first appearance in the NAIA National Tournament. For her play, Ayulo was named the Sun Conference Tournament MVP. A First-Team All-TSC selection, Ayulo is averaging 18.7 points-per-game (No. 2 in the conference and No. 13 in the nation) and 7.9 rebounds-per-contest (No. 9 in the conference).
