JWU Suffers Overtime Loss at Keiser, 113-108

– Despite career highs in scoring by both Isa Brandon and Jack Joseph, the Johnson & Wales men's basketball team (4-13, 2-5 TSC) fell to the Keiser Seahawks (10-6, 5-2 TSC), 113-108, in overtime on Saturday afternoon.

Brandon notched his first-ever 30-point game with 30 points on 11-of-24 shooting from the floor and notched his eighth double-double of the season, collecting 14 rebounds to go along with seven steals. Joseph posted 26 points on 9-of-14 shooting. Gino Fils-Aime also reached the 20-point plateau, scoring 24 points on 8-of-16 shooting and dished out a season-high 12 assists.

The Wildcats, playing in their second overtime contest of the season (0-2), finished the contest shooting 46.3 percent from the floor (38-of-82) and 44.7 percent from 3-point range (17-of-38). The Seahawks posted a shooting percentage of 63.3 percent (38-of-60) and was 13-of-24 from downtown (54.2 percent). JWU's defense was stellar in the contest forcing 22 Keiser turnovers, resulting in 40 points for the Wildcats.

After trailing 49-33 in the first half, JWU used 64.5 percent shooting from the floor and 71.4 percent from the free-throw line to put up 59 points in the final 20 minutes of action to send the game to overtime. The Seahawks out-scored JWU, 21-16, in the five-minute overtime period to hand the Wildcats a five-point loss.

JWU will host the Warner Royals on Thursday, January 11. Tipoff is set for 7:30 p.m.
