– The Johnson & Wales (Fla.) men's basketball team (0-11) fell to the Virgin Island Buccaneers (6-7), 70-57, on Friday night from the Tom Golisano Field House on the campus of Ave Maria University.

The Wildcats held a 53-52 lead with 5:30 left in the game but, a 14-2 run by the Buccaneers put the game out of reach, resulting in the 13-point loss for JWU.

Freshman Dwayne Adams led all Wildcats with 18 points on 6-of-11 shooting from the floor and 5-of-5 shooting from the charity stripe. It marked the eighth game of 10-or-more points for the Miami native, who also recorded four rebounds and a team-high four assists. Also scoring in double-figures was senior Jacknelson Joseph, who added 17 points on 6-of-13 shooting. The product of Miami drained a game-high five treys in the contest.

For the game, JWU shot 40.0 percent from the floor (20-of-50) and converted 10-of-31 from 3-point range (32.3 percent). The Buccaneers made 23-of-54 from the floor (42.6 percent) and drained 23.1 percent of its shots from downtown (3-of-13).

The Buccaneers outrebounded the Wildcats 43-28 and held a 14-2 edge on the offensive glass.

JWU will host Sterling (Kan.) on Monday, December 17. Game time is set for 7:00 p.m.
