Men’s Basketball Closes Out 2018 versus Mitchell College

NORTH MIAMI, Fla. (Dec. 18, 2018) – The Johnson & Wales (Fla.) men's basketball team (0-12) will play its final contest of the 2018 calendar year, hosting the Mitchell College (5-3) Mariners on Wednesday, December 19. Game time from the Wildcat Center is set for 7:00 p.m.

JWU Men's Basketball

Last time out: Trailing 71-69 with 2:48 left in the game, the Johnson & Wales (Fla.) men's basketball team (0-12) were unable to regain the lead as Sterling (Kan.) closed out the game on a 10-0 run, defeating the Wildcats, 81-69, on Monday evening. In a contest which saw six lead changes and had the score tied six different times, JWU could not overcome a second half in which the Warriors shot 60.0 percent from the floor (15-of-25) and were 13-of-15 from the free-throw line. After a hot start in the first half (JWU shot 54.8 percent from the floor), the Wildcats made 10-of-25 from the field and was 4-of-10 from the free-throw line in the final 20 minutes. JWU was led by freshman Tristan Stephens, who posted 18 points on 8-of-13 shooting. Fellow freshman Dwayne Adams added 17 points on 5-of-14 shooting while dishing out a team-high four assists. Sophomore Jordan Martin, who made the first start of his JWU career, poured in 13 points on 6-of-11 shooting from the floor. Junior Dylan McHugh rounded out the leading scorers with 11 points on 4-of-6 shooting, including three treys. Junior Willem Vermylen led the Wildcats with seven boards and registered three blocked shots.
