Men’s Basketball Drops 93-67 Decision to Coastal Georgia

– The Johnson & Wales (Fla.) men's basketball team (2-16, 2-9 TSC) dropped a 93-67 decision to the Coastal Georgia Mariners (11-10, 6-5 TSC) on Saturday afternoon from the Wildcat Center.

Freshman Dwayne Adams led all Wildcats with a career-high 27 points on 9-of-19 shooting from the floor while draining five 3-point buckets. The native of Miami also dished out six assists, marking the sixth-straight game of five-or-more assists for the first-year Wildcat. Adams also ended the night with four steals. Fellow freshman Tristan Stephens also collected four steals while contributing 10 points and grabbing a team-high seven boards. Senior Jacknelson Joseph added 10 points as well on 4-of-11 shooting from the floor.

The Wildcats finished the afternoon, shooting 32.9 percent from the floor (24-of-73) and 26.5 percent from 3-point range (13-of-49). The Mariners converted 31-of-58 shots from the floor (53.4 percent) and hit of 10-of-21 attempts from downtown (47.6 percent). CCG held a 51-30 advantage in rebounding including a slight 10-9 edge on the offensive glass.

JWU will travel to Ave Maria, Florida, to take on the Gyrenes on Thursday, January 24. Game time is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
