Men’s Basketball Unable to Knock off No. 13 Southeastern

NORTH MIAMI, Fla. (Jan. 26, 2019)
– The Johnson & Wales (Fla.) men's basketball team (2-18, 2-11 TSC) were unable to knock off the No. 13-ranked Southeastern Fire (18-5, 11-2 TSC), dropping a 97-61 decision on Saturday afternoon.

The Wildcats were led by junior Dylan McHugh and freshman Dwayne Adams, who each posted 14 points in the game. McHugh shot 5-of-7 from the floor, including 4-of-6 from 3-point range. Adams went 6-of-11 from the floor and as 2-of-3 from beyond the arc. Freshman Tristan Stephens added nine points on 4-of-9 shooting. The native of West Palm Beach, Florida, grabbed four rebounds and tallied a team-best three steals.

JWU finished the game, shooting 41.1 percent from the floor (23-of-56) and hit on 9-of-29 attempts from 3-point land (31.0 percent). SEU shot 32-of-58 from the floor (55.2 percent) and was 53.8 percent from downtown (7-of-13).

The Fire held a 40-24 edge in rebounding as well as an 8-4 advantage on the offensive glass.

JWU will travel to Miami Gardens, Florida, to take on St. Thomas on Thursday, January 31. Game time is slated for 7:30 p.m.
