NORTH MIAMI, Fla. (Feb. 2, 2019) – Despite a career-high-tying 26-point performance by senior Jacknelson Joseph, the Johnson & Wales (Fla.) men's basketball team (2-20, 2-13 TSC) fell to the Florida Memorial Lions (5-21, 3-11 TSC), 80-75, on Saturday afternoon.
Joseph went 9-of-16 from the floor, including 5-of-10 from 3-point range for his second 20-point performance of the season. The native of also grabbed a career-high nine rebounds and registered two steals.
Freshman Dwayne Adams added 18 points on 7-of-19 shooting from the floor. The product of Miami dished out a game-high seven assists and registered seven boards.
For the game, JWU shot 34.2 percent from the floor (26-of-76) and was 13-of-42 from downtown (31.0 percent). The Lions made 53.6 percent of its attempts from the floor (30-of-56) and was 7-of-21 from 3-point land (33.3 percent).
FMU held a slight edge in total rebounding, 40-38, while the Wildcats held a decisive edge on the offensive glass, 18-6.
JWU will travel to West Palm Beach, Florida, to take on the Keiser Seahawks of Saturday, February 9. Game time is set for 4:00 p.m.
